PRESS: Chery production may start at Volkswagen plant in Russia
MOSCOW, Apr 6 (PRIME) -- The production of Chinese Chery cars may begin at the Volkswagen plant in Russia after it is sold, business daily Kommersant reported on Thursday citing sources.
“In the future it is planned to assemble Chinese automobiles at the plant, one of Kommersant's sources talks about involving Chery,” the daily reported.
The newspaper's interlocutors said that the deals to sell the Russian assets of Hyundai and Volkswagen are almost completed and are on the agenda of the next meetings of the governmental commission on foreign investment.
Volkswagen reported two weeks ago that it was ready to finalize the approval of the sale of Russian assets to “a credible Russian investor,” Kommersant reported.
Sources of Kommersant believe that a Kazakh company is interested in Hyundai assets.
